Steamy Morning along the Firehole River
One of the things I love most about Yellowstone is how there seems to be incredible beauty everywhere, even when just walking from one landmark to another.
On this particular morning, we got up very early to set out on the Fairy Falls Trail for a full day of sightseeing. This path immediately brings you across the Firehole River, then soon to the famous Grand Prismatic Spring, and eventually brings you to the beautiful and secluded Fairy Falls.
In this photo, we had just set out and I just loved how everywhere you look, the air was covered in thick steam rising from the thermal river. The sun was barely peaking through, giving a sulfury yellow glow to the steam.
The gravely terrain seemed appropriate, which the beatiful yellow flowers that thrived in the volcanic earth seemed somewhat out-of-place.
I could revisit this same spot 1000 times and the condiditions would never be quite the same, though I suppose that’s true about everywhere in Yellowstone.
There are many beautiful points along the Firehole River, but this one is perhaps one of the most understated and beautiful of them all.
