Pray Lake at Sunset – Two Medicine Campground, Glacier

Glacier National Park is famous for its picturesque natural beauty, and if you’ve ever camped at Two Medicine Campground, you’ve likely witnessed this small but beautiful lake just as the sun went down.

Something magical happens for a short while in the evening. The distant hills and mountains light up, almost as if on fire. If you are lucky, they are not actually on fire, though that would be pretty, too.

This was my first time to both this campground AND Glacier National Park, so I was having a great time just enjoying all of the beauty. On this evening, the sky was clear without any smoke to tarnish our view. There was seemingly no wind, leading to a lovely mirror-like reflection in the water. A well-placed log served as a nice focal point for the foreground.

At this point, we were really the only ones enjoying the lake. Most of the families and couples had gone back to their campgrounds. We had enjoyed the evening swimming in the cool waters and generally enjoying ourselves.

Pray Lake is actually quite small at only around 500 feet, but connects to the nearby Two Medicine Lake which is nearly 2 miles in length. The next time I return, I hope to explore that lake as well.
