Grand, Yellow Canyon

Old Faithful may be the most famous feature in Yellowstone, but the yellow rock along the walls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River is where the park gets its name. Here, perched atop the powerful Upper Yellowstone Falls, you get a good glimpse into the canyon below.

Along either side of the river, you can see the namesake colors of the sulfuric rock. Green tones create a nice contrast with the various plants and trees along the canyon walls.

Standing at this point is quite awe-inspiring, as you look down and feel the power of the water which has carved out this massive canyon.

Steam can be seen rising from various thermal features througout the canyon, and the falls themselves create quite the spray as well.
