Foggy Day at Trout Lake
Trout Lake in Northeastern Yellowstone National Park is an often-overlooked beauty that I highly recommend you visit. It’s right near the very popular Lamar Valley so if you’re in the area, you can easily take an hour to do the 1.2 mile round-trip hike that circles the entire lake.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, and this was especially true on this day. It had been pretty rainy so there weren’t many visitors out hiking. But once we started up the hill, the rain stopped and turned into more of a fog that rendered the entire landscape surreal.
The mountains surrounding the Lamar Valley are faintly visible in the background, covered in clouds. The clear water is glassy and reflects the beautiful pines on the opposite bank. While not visible in the photo, I even witnessed some large fish swimming in its cool waters (trout, perhaps?).
I was extremely lucky with this beautiful weather, and to have captured such a scene on camera. I hope you have just as much luck if you ever visit.
