Hidden Lake Closeup

Hidden Lake in Glacier National Park may be one of its most iconic features, and it’s no surprise why. This beautiful blue-green alpine lake photographs well in any season and from every angle. It is flanked by beautiful mountains and surrounded by various pine trees, often with a thick blanket of snow during most of the year.

This is the view from the Hidden lake overlook, which is not too difficult to get to, assuming there isn’t too much snow. You simply park in the Logan Pass Visitor Center and follow the relatively short trail to the overlook.

When I visited in August 2022, there was still a great deal of snow, and most of the “trail” didn’t really exist. Instead, you sort of just had to wander across the snow in the general direction of the overlook. We saw mountain goats along the mountain face, and even had some fun “sledding” down some steep, snowy parts on our jackets.

If you’re going to be in the area, you absolutely have to check out this beautiful trail.
